Opening the letter the smile quickly slid off Heath's face. Then, as
fast as it left it came right back. Laughing, Heath takes the letter
over to his father and says, "I know I've been called Mr. Johnson
before, but I don't think my first name is Collin." The letter was
from the ministry of magic stating that Collin Johnson was now an
officially magical aware muggle.

Heath walks over to the other owl who was still sitting patiently on
the window sill. Taking the letter from this owl's beak, Heath opens
it up to find neatly written in swirly, emerald handwriting:

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme
Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Mr. Johnson:

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all
necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall,
Deputy Headmistress

As Heath scanned through the list of items he stopped on one very
peculiar one, the wand. Instantly Heath's curiosity was aroused. When
he had pressed his mother for information on the wizardly world Heath
asked the most about how the wand worked. Such a simple thing that
allows extraordinary people to do extraordinary things. With out it
wizards were just another ordinary person... for the most part.
Heath's eyes glaze over as he remembers everything about the wand that
his mom told him. Wands act almost as living things. They can be
helpful or fickle. They seem to have their own personalities. They
even choose their wielders! If only he knew how it worked...
