"Oh here..." Marjorie stepped up and yanked at the latch to
open it for Philip.  She opened the window up and looked
out at the dark street below.

Hodges moved forward as the cause of the commotion - Fitzroy's possible 
poisoning - became apparent.  "Let me try."  He muttered, moving downstairs 
towards the loo with his key.

The door didn't give - clearly it was bolted from the inside - and it 
appeared Fitzroy was in no state to unbolt it.
