[MaC] An Interruption

Slowly he began to fumble his way across the room,
excuse himself every few feet just to let others know
he was coming.

And almost immediately he stumbled and fell ... and
Florence Beaman let out a yelp of pain.

"Oh, Mrs. Beaman, darling, do let me help you up,"
Nicola said, kneeling down to take the woman's hand.
"It's so very difficult with the blackout, why, it's a
miracle more people haven't collided into each other."

The lift was clanking up to the lower floor of the
penthouse.

"Well," said Lucinda, "someone had better go and meet
the man."

She began to edge her way towards the stairs down to
the lower floor.
