"Hi," said Cyrus, closer to whispering than speaking. He gave them his name and busily stuck his reddening face in a book. On the seat next to him was a smallish cage with a cover over it.

Amber then replied to Kayden, "No she's OK...
 I think. She's never met an owl before, but neither have I."
Amber reached out tward the owl, "Can I hold him?"
