As Paloma walked into the dark train car she could see what looked like
two puffy armchairs on each side of the entrance. Light from the
doorway highlighted the curtains on the windows and lit a rectangular
area on the thick plush red rug which covered the floor. As she took
each step the rug was soft and bouncy. It felt nice to walk on, almost
relaxing.

This train car had no compartments. Even so, the inside must have been
twice as wide as all the other train cars. This allowed for a large
area running down the center. The area was large enough for a small
dance party. The outline of stuff filled either side of the dark area
around her. The tall thin pyramid object was exactly in the middle.

She could make out the shape of the object from some reflections of the
door’s light. The thin pyramid was almost two feet taller than she
was. There wasn’t enough light to see much else. Beyond here was
absolute darkness.
