His mother laughs. "Oh, I'm sure your father and I can find a few
things for you can do to earn a bit of spending money. Maybe not wait
table, but you can sweep up and refill glasses, and help clear dishes.
And who knows? Maybe a few of the neighbors might have a spare chore
or two they can offer you.

"But you can't go stuffing your trunk with candy and toys. You're
actually going to need a bit of space for your school supplies. And
like your father said, we can start acquiring stuff here in town over
the next few weeks before we head off to London."
